The argument as to whether video games are good or not is perhaps one of the hottest debates today. There are smart, well-educated, well-meaning people on each side of the debate.

As a non-gamer, I have an interesting perspective bring to the discussion – I’m a non-gamer who views video games favorably. Why? Allow me to explain.

The people of today are raving over the Ultra Mobile Pc. They provide you with many of the features that you would expect from a laptop such as internet connectivity and the ability to watch movies or connect with your peers from anywhere so long as there is Internet connectivity. These tiny computers are useful in the extreme. However, their small size gives rise to a number of problems.

One of the problems inherent to UMPCs is the issue of not having the traditional keyboard. The touch screen makes it easy to tap out your emails with your fingers or with the provided stylus. However, even this is not without its problems. The screens are only seven inches on a typical UMPC, and this means that there is very limited space in which to fit in a keyboard.

The space constraints may be hard to handle. The software designers could choose to design a keyboard utility that covers up the screen underneath, making it hard to see what you are actually doing, or can design a keyboard utility that does not hide the screen but which can be hard to use because the available keys will be small.

Since the brilliant designers at Microsoft know that no one really likes to have to use a stylus to operate their PCs (even their tiny computer), DialKeys is a standard installation on UMPCs. The program was developed by a company called Fortune Fountain Ltd. It is an overlay program with a split keyboard that is designed to allow the UMPC user to even type with his thumbs.

Using thumbs only to type on a standard QWERTY keyboard layout is odd enough. However, the DialKeys application takes it one step farther by completely overhauling the QWERTY keyboard. The application displays as two quarter-circles, one in each lower corner of the screen, allowing you to type with your thumbs without twisting and turning your hand rather unnaturally. This allows you to type without changing the way that you hold the device.

Unfortunately for many, especially many men, the DialKey application could be a hassle if you have large fingers, just like many typing solutions. The unique layout of the keyboard on the screen also makes it a little bit harder to use a stylus, which can be bothersome if one is trying to type in a rush. If your fingers hit the keys well, however, the DialKeys program has plenty of options and features to help you find it extremely functional and interesting.

We’ve all seen them, and some of us may even own one—a cell phone that has numerous capabilities beyond a normal phone. Some may contain cameras, games, internet access, blue tooth devices, speakerphone, and even video recorders, which enable its users to create mini home movies. What is the purpose of all of all these capabilities, and are they really necessary? Well of course, there are opposing opinions about this.

Some people are old-school, meaning they aren’t really into all the latest technology. They may not see the necessity in having a blue tooth device attached to their cell phone, or the ability to access the internet from it. They may have a very simple mobile phone that has the minimal amount of abilities because their needs don’t require them to buy all the extras. These people may feel that people who are willing to pay hundreds of dollars for a simple device are ridiculous and are wasting their money. If they want to access the internet, then they can just do it the usual way—by using a computer.

When most people think of security camera, what comes to mind is usually basic information that’s not particularly interesting or beneficial. But there’s a lot more to security camera than just the basics.

You hear people talking about them all the time. The infamous ‘dummy cameras’ that are supposed to make your business or home suddenly invulnerable to crime. The problem with this logic is that it isn’t entirely correct. Cameras do not deter crime, the fear of getting caught does. Unfortunately for home and business owners that are relying on dummy cameras for security is that there is nothing with which to identify these invaders if they are caught because the camera that was supposed to be providing security was a fake.

The thing to remember is that cameras in and of themselves are not really crime deterrents. They are not preventative measures at all. Cameras only work to identify those who have already committed the crime rather than frighten off those who may commit the crimes. The only cameras that are effective at catching someone in the act are those that are monitored on the premises with adequate security to not only monitor the cameras but also apprehend the perpetrators. Dummy cameras do not provide any of these services, which renders them fairly useless all around.

Most of this information comes straight from the security camera pros. Careful reading to the end virtually guarantees that you’ll know what they know.
